About

My days in the kitchen begin very early. Within hours, my 50’s style country kitchen is filled with warm and inviting smells that wrap around guests, inviting them to stay and taste what is next to come out of the oven. I am a Hedonistic Naturalist when it comes to food. As a 45+ year old woman who grew up in the heart of Pennsylvania Amish and Mennonite country, the recipes I use and create explode with the flavors of fresh ingredients.

I believe in self sustainability and mutual support so I grow many of my own ingredients at home or get them from local farmers. I make sure that I am always producing a quality product that is not processed but made from quality local produce using old world techniques. I admit that I have been heavily influenced by a childhood where Fast food was not the norm, girls still took Home Economics and Farmer’s Markets and fresh local produce were readily available. Many of my recipes will remind you of those times when food filled your stomach but still tasted incredible and you wouldn't want to leave the kitchen because it smelled so good or you couldn't wait to have it straight from the oven.

You may ask, why “Just for good measure?” I taste food in my mind; flavor combinations dance through the palate in my head and beg me to create them. There are some tastes that I have to create and while trying to pinpoint just the right taste, ingredients are added, most of the time…… just for good measure.

Sharing Joy through food.
